This Palestinian village, placed under Israeli control, was abandoned by its inhabitants during the 1948 war. Taken from varying distances, the photographs of the ruined village come to offer us different ways of observing the past. First, there is the trigger event: the repercussions of the war clearly visible in the ruins more than half a century later. Then, as we draw closer, we see the natural sedimentation of time and wear. Close up, meanwhile, the stones give no clues of the village that was. These three ways of observing the ruins become different ways of perceiving history and time: a photographic panorama that questions the relativity of perception.
